Timo Blunck (born 1962 in Hamburg, Germany) is one of the few true artists working in the field of Corporate Sound and Audio Branding.
Blunck started out as a Popstar: his Band ‘Palais Schaumburg’ is still considered one of the most groundbreaking acts in German music history. As a composer and producer, he has been responsible for hundreds of soundtracks for film, advertising and scenography. His work includes the music for several ‘Tatort’ (the most prolific German crime TV-show), the entire sound installation for the Saudi-Arabian pavilion at the Shanghai world expo and a series of award winning Volkswagen-commercials with a musical theme, the most prominent one being ‘The car built around the rapper’ for Polo/Beats by Dr. Dre. His latest effort is writing music and lyrics for the new Storck/Merci brand song.
He has won everything from a Gold Lion to a Gold Clio. He took home the DWP-Award in 2017 and received the Red Dot Award for Corporate Sound for SCHÜCO, for which he built an instrument out of the materials manufactured by the company itself. He is a member of the ADC and keeps numerous nails somewhere in his kitchen drawer. He has judged multiple festivals, including Clio, ADC, Ciclope and DWP.
Blunck has been a guest professor for music in advertising at the Filmakademie Baden- Württemberg and is currently teaching at the Hamburg Media School. He has consulted on numerous projects connecting brands and music, the most recent one being a joint venture between the ADC and the Reeperbahnfestival.
Timo Blunck's unique history and activity in various fields allow for a fresh approach to understanding and developing sound DNA in every context. He knows how to think in and outside the box.
Together with his team of experienced creatives, researchers and producers, he works out of BLUT’s rooftop-studio next to Hamburgs city hall. You’re in town? Come visit! Timo will be happy to share a coffee and a few stories.
